The Geneva Health Forum (GHF) is the forum of innovative practices in Global Health. Created in 2006 by the Geneva University Hospitals (HUG) and the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Geneva, and taking place every two years, the Geneva Health Forum is one of the most important international conferences on Global Health. Nowadays, crucial Global Health actors, such as the World Health Organization (WHO), are among the key partners of the Geneva Health Forum.

As the complexity of global health challenges is growing, answering to those challenges requires a multidisciplinary approach as well as being able to bring innovative solutions. The Geneva Health Forum aims to present innovative, accessible and sustainable practices in order to facilitate access to care and health equity. Bringing together more than 1500 participants from all sectors - field practitioners, academics, professionals from public and private sector, policy-makers, international and non-governmental organizations - the Geneva Health Forum offers a unique opportunity for a dynamic exchange between the key stakeholders of Global Health.

The overall goal of the Geneva Health Forum is to contribute to improving health and care access in the world.

To achieve this goal, the Geneva Health Forum aims to:

  • Give visibility to innovative field experiences, especially by promoting innovative practices that improve access to care in resource-poor settings;
  • Establish a critical and constructive dialogue among Global Health actors from different sectors, and foster collaborations between them;
  • Promoting interaction between actions in the field and health policy development so that best practices guide policies and that policy diffusion at the field level is facilitated.

Geneva is the capital of Global Health, offering a unique network of key stakeholders active in this field. It hosts the Headquarters of the World Health Organization (WHO) but also a large number of international governmental and non-governmental organizations working on health issues. Among other UN agencies, Geneva hosts the Office of the United Nations High-Commissioner for Human Rights, the International Organization for Migrations, the Human Rights Council, and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. It also hosts the main NGOs active in the field, as well as the HUG, which has decades’ long experience in humanitarian action. As such, Geneva is an epicentre for the promotion and protection of Human Rights and humanitarian action and cooperation, thus offering an exceptional platform for synergies and collaborations.
